New York Times review of D’banj concert

The New York Times reviews a very fun D’banj concert I went to in New York this weekend.  The Times calls him “maybe less nuanced” than another performer on his home label, and describes the crowd as “slickly dressed, skewing young and African.”

I love D’banj’s music.  His new song, Oliver, is super catchy.  But my takeaway from the concert is that D’banj as a person seems sleazy and narcissistic.

    Hey Shelby!
I’m jealous you got to go to that concert! I really only know/listen to Oliver (which is addictive), but I totally agree with you about the sleazy and narcissistic part. At least that doesn’t mean we can’t shamelessly listen :)
