Joseph Kamara is replacing Stephen Rapp as Acting Prosecutor of the Special Court for Sierra Leone until a new prosecutor is appointed. I imagine he will be leading the cross-examination of Charles Taylor, which is set to start this month. Kamara, a Sierra Leonean (yay!) lawyer, is president of the Sierra Leone Bar Association. He worked with the prosecutor’s office in Sierra Leone, and also in private practice in the US. He’s from Makeni. If he does well, I hope they will remove the word Acting from his title. Or at least appoint a Sierra Leonean or Liberian prosecutor.
