I think I’ll move to Ashgabat

Thanks to Nathan for pointing me to the 2009 International Cost of Living Comparison. Of 276 cities surveyed, Monrovia is considered the 176th most expensive city. I like Nathan’s commentary:

By somebody’s statistic, current cost of living in Monrovia falls right in between Detroit and Austin. Personally I find this a bit hard to digest: COL in Monrovia higher than Riyadh? Mogadishu more expensive than Charlotte? Who is collecting what kind of economic data in Somalia?…But bottom line: Monrovia ain’t cheap.

The cheapest cities to live in include Harare, several Chinese cities, Phnom Penh, Asmara, and Ashgabat (Turkmenistan).
Update: This survey actually reflects average cost of living for expatriates.  Thanks again to Nate.
