Disinformation

Charles Taylor said today that the Liberians who fought alongside the RUF in Sierra Leone in the late 1990s were mercenaries, not AFL guys. Taylor said the UN Special Envoy to Sierra Leone in 1998, Francis Okello, misidentified the Liberians as soldiers, leading to a chain of “disinformation.” Taylor said this is what “got me into prison today.” It will be fun to read more about this when the transcript gets posted.
