President Sirleaf, and others, dedicating the American International School of Monrovia in October 2007. Picture from here.According to this Star Radio article, on Tuesday police refused to allow court officers to enter the recently-opened American International School of Monrovia (AISM). Maryland Transport Company says the American Cooperative school (ACS) owes them $8 million for providing transport services before the war. The court officers “were mandated to seize and expose for sale the property” of the ACS.
AISM says that they are a new entity, though they operate on the same property that the ACS did. Legally, this might be true, but a quick Google search pulled up several articles (including this Liberian government press release) that says something to the effect of “the American International School of Monrovia, formerly knows at the American Cooperative School.” So I can see why this transport company might be a bit mad.
