Taylor’s lawyer accuses proseuction of wasting money

Here’s an interesting–but short–AFP story about Charles Taylor’s defense lawyers claiming that the prosecution is wasting money by bringing unnecessary witnesses to The Hague to testify. Taylor’s lawyers frequently say they do not deny that crimes were committed in Sierra Leone, but rather deny Taylor’s responsibility for these crimes. The defense argues that witnesses called to prove that a crime was a committed are unnecessary. The prosecution claims that in trial defense has questioned certain crimes, so these witnesses are necessary. This story is just a he-said-she-said article, and does not look at court transcripts to figure out if, in fact, the defense has questioned certain crimes.

Hi. I came across your blog because of reading other horrid posts by dudley doo-wrong (nee sharp)on another blog. Just wanted to say that I agreed with your original post and wish that certain people weren’t curtailing discussions with angry invective.
