When I left Liberia last year, the US$7 Liberia Travel & Life had just started printing. It’s now a quarterly magazine with all the expected ads (Mamba Point Hotel, SN Brussels, Africa Motors) and some fun articles. (As much as I love this magazine, I think it’s worth mentioning again that is seems to be predominantly written by and about Americo-Liberians.) The current issue is called “11 Men of Style.” Number 5 is Lawrence Bropleh, the Information Minister. Stlye: “I’m smart casual. I’m a bit of GQ, but a distinctive kind of GQ. I like simple, but unuique. Bela is my favorite designer.”
The issue has an article about exploring Sierra Leone. The end of the article offers driving directions to Sierra Leone. I love that you can give directions from one country to another in 7 short lines.
My favorite ad is this one, for Ecobank. The text box next to the woman in the white shirt says: This market woman, even when she goes to Ganta, uses her ATM card.
