Obama Wins Key Endorsement from Former Sierra Leonean Rebel Leader

Wit: If we are watching CNN, football, or discussing Obama or Zimbabwe, we discuss issues. We say this man has been in power a long time.
Def: You discuss Robert Mugabe?
Wit: Yes.
Def: Barack Obama?
Wit: Yes, because I like him.

I had the opportunity to hear this gem first-hand during the cross-examination of Alimamy Bobson Sesay, a former combat commander with the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC), by defense counsel Morris Anyah. Anyah was trying to get Sesay to admit to discussing Taylor’s trial with other witnesses he currently shares a house with in The Hague.

Many of your readers are going to be interested in what you are witnessing at the Taylor trial. Make sure you too are a responsible writer! The headline about the Obama “endorsement” when the witness was saying he likes Obama does just what most of us readers cry about. THe headline, in itself, creates a truth that is not true. The REBEL LEADER did not say he ENDORSES OBAMA. He is also not in a position of power now. He is a former rebel leader – and you were not interviewing him and giving him a platform for endorsements. You were listening to testimony. Former Sierra Leonean Rebel Leader Acknowledges Interest in Obama During Taylor Trial Testimony = this is more near the truth and is not meant to inflame or titillate.
