A few days ago my blog got its 10,000th hit. Thanks, as always, to all of my readers and for your continued feedback. In honor of this “milestone” I decided to re-post my favorite photo from Liberia. I took this picture in December 2005 while staying at St. Theresa’s Convent on Randall Street. (I recommend the convent for budget travellers–a private room is about $30/night.) The young girl pictured above was orphaned during the war and taken in by nuns at the convent. She would draw and write by candle light in the evenings until the generator kicked on.
