Naira for Sale

I have 18,500 Naira that I want to sell. Yes, yes, I know, it’s illegal to have Naira outside of Nigeria. When I left Nigeria for Liberia last December, I was planning on going back to Nigeria, and thought it would be a pain to change money twice. Because it is illegal to have Naira in the US, I am having trouble getting some US dollars for it. If you’re interested in buying the Naira off me, I’ll give you a very good rate. At the going exchange rate 18,500 Naira is $124, but I’ll take the best offer.

I do not knw where you got your info from… but I do not think there are any US laws that makes it illegal to own foreign currency…further, the US govt. definately does not have anything against the Naira..please I would really appreciate any proof that states it is illegal to own Naira in the US. Now if you plan on using any foreign curreny for daily business transactions..then it might be ILLEGAL. Secondly as of the 19/10/2007..the going rate for the dollar to the Naira is $124- $126 to 1 Naira. Please check your facts!

Thanks for these comments. First, I must have been using a website that did not have the correct exchange rate. I just changed the post. Thanks for the correction.

Second, while it might not be illegal under US law to have Naira in the US, my understanding is that it is illegal under Nigerian law for Naira to leave Nigeria. Right?

Since I am not Nigerian I can’t answer that question… however, I do not believe I have come accross any section in the Nigerian constitution or any law that state it is illegal for the Naira to leave the country (seems like a highly illogical law to me..if any exists). However, if you know where this is stated please share… I work with facts.
