My Goodbye/Birthday Night and Haloumi Cheese

In the small chance that someone in Liberia has the same weird dietary restrictions as me, it might be useful to know that Haloumi cheese is spreading throughout Monrovia. Haloumi cheese is a Greek cheese that is made with rennet that was not derived from animals. You can get cheese pies at Saaj House, the new restaurant on 18th Street beachside, that are made with Haloumi cheese. (And Saaj House has free wireless Internet.) The Mezza Mamba also has Haloumi cheese sandwiches. If you are interested in making your own Haloumi cheese dish, beware that Abi Jaoudi sells it for $6.50, but Greenland sells it for 200 Liberian Dollars ($3.30).
