Slok

Yesterday I went to Slok Airlines to get a refund on a ticket that someone did not use. (Their policy is actually pretty good–you can get a full refund minus a $86 or so service charge.) Because this was a ticket for work, I am using the refund as an advance for work expenses. After receiving the refund, I asked for a receipt, so that my organization wouldn’t think that I was pocketing part of the refund. The following conversation ensued:

Me: Can I have a receipt for the refund?
Manager: Huh? We’re giving you money, you give us a receipt.
Me: Um, can you just give me some documentation showing that you gave me this money?
Manager: That’s not our problem. We only give receipts if you give us money.
Me: Where I’m from, if I return something to a store, they give me a receipt.
Manager: Not here. You give me a receipt.
