I managed to get away with not sleeping under a bed net for the first nine months I spent in Africa. But last month, in Sierra Leone, the mosquitoes were just so bad that I gave in. Thanks, UNICEF! I feel like I can finally understand why people don’t like to sleep under them. My little room was already so hot, and the bed net only made it hotter.
