Great Womens Rights Organization

I recently met with a woman from Nimba County, a part of Liberia in the north that was greatly affected during the war. The woman works with an informal network of women in most districts throughout Nimba County called Concern Women. The network brings together women to discuss issues that are of concern to them, like education or security or whatever. They are now in the process of setting up a literacy program for women in the county. They are not an official NGO, but in many ways that have a stronger and more sustainable presence than many local NGOs. They are politically powerful and able to function on limited resources.

Concern Women is in need of materials for their literacy program. They are also setting up a local kindergarten, and are in need of stationery (i.e. paper, pens, markers, paints, crayons, etc.) If anyone would be interested in donating some of these materials, I could collect them when I am in the US in the beginning of May, and give them to the network when I return. Shoot me an email if you are interested in helping: shelbygrossman@gmail.com.
